Biography
Rufio is a melodic punk rock band from Rancho Cucamonga, California. All the members of the band went to the same high school together. The band was formed when original bassist Jon Berry was in freshman year in college and the other three band members were in the final year of high school. The other three band members are Scott Sellers (Vocals/Guitar), Mike Jimenez (Drums), and Clark Domae (Guitar). Guitar players Scott and Clark were acquaintances at young ages as they grew up together. Scott then met lead bassist Jon Berry, and they began playing together immediately in various groups and sessions, as well as purchasing a 4-track to record the songs they have written together. After Berry and Scott began recording music, they asked Mike to play drums for them and listen to their recordings. Shortly after the addition of Mike, Clark joined and the band was formed. The band got their name from the character Rufio, leader of the Lost Boys from the Peter Pan-inspired film Hook.
Rufio released their debut recording in 2001 on The Militia Group label, Perhaps, I Suppose, which was interpunk.com’s top selling album ever for at least 3 years, only recently eclipsed by Operation Ivy’s Energy. The band returned in June 2003 with MCMLXXXV (released on the Nitro label), which was recorded with the aid of producer Nick Rasculinecz who has also recorded with Foo Fighters and Rancid. Rufio went on to play on the Warped Tour that summer following the release of their second album. Their third album The Comfort of Home was released in July 2005. Again, the band went on to join tour that fall with MxPx and Relient K after the “The Comfort of Home” release.
In late January, 2006 bassist Jon Berry and drummer Mike Jimenez left the band, then later started a new band called Science Fiction Theatre. Following the loss of these two members the band pulled out of their tour with No Use For A Name in early 2006. While no official statement has been made regarding a breakup, in a recent interview No Use For A Name acknowledged as much.
On Thursday 5th April 2007 the band announced on their MySpace page that they were to have an official farewell show on June 1st 2007 at The Glass House, Pomona CA followed by a South American tour. The statement in full reads: “Farewell show and South American tour. well… its been a while friends… and we’ve finally decided that its time to do an official farewell show with all the members of Rufio on June 1st. We thought it would be a good way to show our appreciation to all our hometown friends and fans who have supported us from the very beginning. We figured the Glasshouse would be a very appropriate venue to host the show and we hope to see ALLLL of you there! we’ll be playing a variety of songs, and even oldies we rarely play! Its going to be a sad night but it also means the birth of new projects and new music! We’re also going down to South America in june for one last hoorah. we’re very excited about this. there are some shows posted right now, and more will be posted later. we cant wait to party with you crazy south americans! come party with us one last time! Love, Rufio.”
On Tuesday, August 4th 2009, Rufio posted a myspace blog announcing that they were already in the midst of a new C.D."

Biography
There are 2 bands named Transplants.
#1 Transplants is the name of an American punk/hip hop band. They formed in 1999 when Tim Armstrong of the band Rancid played his friend and roadie Rob Aston some beats he had made using Pro Tools and asked Rob if he would consider contributing lyrics. Initially, Tim played all the instruments himself but as the project grew, he invited musician friends such as Matt Freeman (Rancid), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), and Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers) to add to the sound. Before long, Tim and Rob decided to officially form a band, but to make things complete, they wanted a drummer, so Travis Barker from blink-182 was asked to join in 2002. Travis actually recorded all drums for the first album in about eight hours.
Tim first became inspired to work with loops and samples after being introduced to London’s speed/garage scene by Kerrang! magazine writer Morat in the mid-90s.
The group’s music is a combination of hip hop, reggae, drum n bass, dub, and punk, but not necessarily all at once. Although many are used sparingly throughout the album, punk and rap remain as the prominent styles. Lyrically, Rob Aston describes their songs as ranging from topics such as murder (“Quick Death”) to the passing of a loved one (“Sad But True”) to failed friendships (“We Trusted You”).
After two years of recording, they released their debut album Transplants on Hellcat Records in October 2002. In the end, the album was recorded and mixed entirely in Tim’s basement. Special guest vocalists included Eric Ozenne (Nerve Agents), Davey Havok (AFI), Danny Diablo, Lars Frederiksen (Rancid) and Brody Dalle (The Distillers, ex-wife of Tim). Brody sings on the track “Weigh On My Mind”, which Tim then described as “their song”.
The singles, “Diamonds and Guns” and “D.J. D.J.”, quickly became MTV favorites and earned the band critical and commercial success. “Diamonds and Guns” and its unmistakable piano hook played by co-producer Dave Carlock continues to win new fans through TV commercials for Garnier Fructis shampoo. The band followed up the record’s success by touring with the Foo Fighters.
After the 2005 blink-182 hiatus, Travis Barker said that he was returning to working with Transplants and Plus 44, a side project with Blink’s Mark Hoppus. The Transplants’ second album, titled Haunted Cities, was released in June 2005.
In an interview with Rob Aston and Paul Wall on January 16, 2006 about their new project with Travis Barker, Expensive Taste, Rob commented that the Transplants broke up. In the interview he stated “The Warped Tour had just ended and Transplants had just broken up”.
#2 Less well known, but pre-dating Tim Armstrong by a good 20 years, The Transplants is also the name of a Boston punk band formed in the winter of 1976."

Biography
Box Car Racer was a short-lived side project formed in 2002 by two members of the band blink-182, featuring guitarist Tom DeLonge and drummer Travis Barker. As lead member Tom DeLonge stated, “it was never a ‘band’ but rather a project” to experiment with and record ideas DeLonge felt did not fit with blink-182’s sound. Tom enlisted Travis Barker stating that the reason why he asked Barker to drum on the album is because he didn’t want to pay for a studio drummer. Mark Hoppus made his feelings about this project known. Tom DeLonge said that he did not mean for Hoppus to feel that way and therefore stated that Box Car Racer would never reform.
Taking Barker from blink-182 and David Kennedy they recorded their self-titled album, “Box Car Racer”, in 2002. On the album Tom did all the bass work, but Anthony Celestino was their touring bass player. Guests on the album included Mark Hoppus from blink-182, Tim Armstrong from Rancid and also Jordan Pundik from New Found Glory.
Tom and Travis claim the band was heavily influenced by dischord emo, citing influences such as Rites of Spring, Fugazi and later era post hardcore bands such as Quicksand.
Box Car Racer took a hiatus after their headlining tour in 2003. Tom has stated publicly that Box Car Racer is now defunct and will never reunite. Their website was taken off the Internet in late March 2005 and has since been put back online. Many people speculated that Tom’s new project was going to be a new Box Car Racer album when he initially announced that he was working on a new album but those rumors were dismissed after the announcement of +44 and Angels & Airwaves.
Origin of Name
The band’s name comes from the B-29 Bomber which dropped the second atomic bomb (to be used in warfare) on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The plane’s name was “Bockscar”. Tom has said in an interview that he has seen the name misspelled as “Boxcar”.

rise against
Rise Against is a punk band from Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 1999, and originally performing under the name Transistor Revolt, they released a self-produced demo entitled Transistor Revolt in 2000, a year before signing with Fat Wreck Chords to release their first two albums, The Unraveling in 2001, and Revolutions Per Minute in 2003. They later switched to Dreamworks Records and recorded their album Siren Song of the Counter Culture. However, Dreamworks Records got taken over by the Universal Music Group and Rise Against finally found themselves on Geffen Records , a Universal Music Group subsidiary, releasing Siren Song of the Counter Culture in August 2004. A re-issued version of The Unraveling was released on August 23, 2005 through Fat Wreck Chords. Their 4th studio album entitled “The Sufferer and The Witness” was released on July 4th 2006.
Rise Against’s original lineup consisted ofTim McIlrath (vocals and guitar), Joe Principe (bass and vocals), Brandon Barnes (drums), and Mr. Precision (guitar and vocals), and recorded its debut album with renowned punk producer Mass Giorgini. Mr. Precision left the band in 2001 and was replaced by Todd Mohney. Shortly after the band signed with Geffen, Mohney left and was replaced by Chris Chasse. After the release of the The Sufferer and The Witness, Chasse left the band due to the “overwhelming tour schedule stacked on growing pressures and demands” (he is now in a band Last of the Believers; in his place now stands Zach Blair of Only Crime. According to a statement by McIlrath, “Yes, the Rise Against curse continues…”
Various musical influences are apparent in their songs on Siren Song of the Counter Culture. The opening song, “State of the Union”, is comparable to classic hardcore. As an introductory song, it is supposed to make the listener wake up. “To Them These Streets Belong” and “The First Drop” are more typical of the traditional punk in the style of Pennywise. Most of their lyrics include a political message of some sort. The aforementioned “Swing Life Away” is slow-paced song, originally recorded for thePunk Goes Acoustic compilation album.
The band had a slow but steady rise in popularity, with each album building on the popularity of the previous and bringing them to a new level of mainstream awareness, beginning with their independent label debut The Unraveling to their latest major label offering,Appeal to Reason , which had the band make their signature sound slightly more accessible and offered them their heaviest airplay to date and is their highest-charting album.
The members of Rise Against are straight edge and vegetarian. They have toured recently with Bad Religion andMy Chemical Romance and have made several tours around the US and Europe.
On October 7th of 2008, they released their 5th album called “Appeal to Reason”. This was the first album with new comer guitarist Zach Blair, formerly from Only Crime. The single “Re-Education (Through Labor)” was released on August 19 of 2008 and is available for listening on the band’s official website.
